BC Epilepsy Society Calls on BC Government to Step Up

On February 24th, the BC Epilepsy Society issued a press release about the mounting epilepsy crisis in BC and the failings of the BC provincial government to provide support and assistance to the over 40,000 people living with epilepsy in BC and their families.

On February 26th, Kim Davidson, CEO & Executive Director of the BC Epilepsy Society and the founder of the I AM A VOICE for Epilepsy Awareness™ campaign, was featured on Global News to discuss the above press release and to talk about the epilepsy crisis in BC and the lack of government response to 9 meeting requests over the past 18 months. She was also joined by Ian MacWilliams – the father of a young man who passed away last year as a result Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) – to introduce the public to the What If … Documentary Series™. If you missed the Global News interview, please check it out below:

Additionally, the BC Epilepsy Society has also created a petition to help end the epilepsy crisis in BC, which currently has 420 signatures. Please click here to check out the petition and sign it. Please note that the petition is best viewed on a computer rather than on a mobile device.

Finally, the I AM A VOICE for Epilepsy Awareness™ campaign and the BC Epilepsy Society also released information about the What If … Documentary Series™, which was created out of the necessity to bring about public awareness to the epilepsy crisis and mortality rates of epilepsy in BC, which is an orphaned disease in the province of BC. You can check out the trailer for the What If … Documentary Series™ below:
