Ridesharing Comes to BC!

On Thursday morning, the provincial Passenger Transportation Board (PTB) announced that it officially approved applications for ridesharing services Lyft and Uber in the province. As of Friday, both Lyft and Uber are operational in Metro Vancouver.

The prices for each service are as follows:

  • Lyft
    • Base fee: $2.50
    • Service fee: $2.50
    • Cost per kilometer: $0.65
    • Cost per minute: $0.33
  • Uber:
    • Base fee: $2.00
    • Service fee: $2.50
    • Cost per kilometer: $0.70
    • Cost per minute: $0.33

“We are excited on behalf of the over 40,000 people living with epilepsy in BC to have ridesharing services Lyft and Uber in BC,” stated Kim Davidson, CEO & Executive Director of the BC Epilepsy Society and member of the Ridesharing Now for BC coalition. She added that, “We are especially proud to have been part of the movement advocating for ridesharing services to come to BC.”
