The BC Epilepsy Society offers a variety of programs and services, all grounded in our mission to support, educate and empower British Columbians who are effected by epilepsy. The following is a list of our services. To learn more about any of these services, or about our plans for new services, please contact us.
Our Staff at BC Children's Hospital Neurology Clinic
Our Society has two staff members who are also part of the neurology clinic team at BC Children's Hospital. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Wednesday Kathryn Sykes, RSW and Elvira Balakshin work with the neurologists and clinic nurses to provide a much-needed social work resource to families attending the clinic. They assist families with matters such as school issues, financial supports, accessible recreation, and transition planning. Elvira and Kathryn also provide the clinic with resources from our Society.
Partners In Teaching
This program facilitates communication and understanding by providing educational workshops, classroom resource kits, and information materials to school staff, students, and others who work with children and youth including: childcare providers, recreation leaders, and transportation staff.
