Support Us

As a non-profit, charitable organization, the BC Epilepsy Society relies on individuals like you to help to deliver our support and education programs.

There are a variety of ways that you might lend your support: Many of our services are delivered with the help of our volunteers. We are always eager to meet new experts who can lend their advice. And, of course, through your financial contribution.

How to Volunteer

The BC Epilepsy Society relies on the regular involvement of volunteers to deliver programs and services to people living with epilepsy.

Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, and to contribute to your community. Opportunities exist that require as little as a few hours each week.

How to Donate

Without the financial support of our donors, we would not be able to develop and deliver the many programs and services on which our members rely.

Successes like our Partners In Teaching program and this website are possible thanks to the financial support of friends like you.

Thanks for your support.

Gifts of Securities

With the elimination of capital gains on donations of publicly traded securities, gifts of securities are now the most tax efficient  way to make a charitable donation, and it's a great way for donors to make a greater impact with their gift.

It's easy, both for donors and charities. You can start the process by clicking on the CanadaHelps logo on this page. Once a donor has completed the online process and the shares have been sold, the donor receives a tax receipt and the charity receives the funds. It's that simple. In Memoriam and In Celebration Gifts

Most people are familiar with the practice of making a charitable donation in memory of a friend or family member. The BC Epilepsy Society can send acknowledgment “in memoriam” cards to a family after their loss to let them know about your gift. The amount of the gift is not given in the card.

On the other hand, most people don’t know about the concept of “in celebration” gifts. When families host a celebration event like a birth, birthday, wedding, anniversary, or graduation, or some other family event, they can ask guests to make a donation to the BC Epilepsy Society rather than bringing a present.

Please consider both options in benefit of the BC Epilepsy Society. The gifts can be directed to epilepsy research, services, or programs.

If you’d like to discuss either of these options, please contact our Executive Director at 604-875-6704 ext. 12.

Monthly Donations

Some of our donors prefer to make their donations on a monthly basis because they don't have to commit to a single large gift at one time in the year. For example, $50 each month may be easier to budget than $500 once a year. You can start your monthly donations by clicking on the CanadaHelps.org logos on this page.
