October 10th is World Mental Health Day – A Focus on Epilepsy Support Groups
World Mental Health Day, held annually on October 10th of every year, aims to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world to support better mental health for all. The BC Epilepsy Society is celebrating World Mental Health Day this year by highlighting our amazing support groups that help promote positive mental health for people living with epilepsy and their families. Check them out below:
- The In-Person Peer Support Group is a group for adults living with epilepsy. This group is held at the BC Epilepsy Society office on the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM. For more information, or to register, please email info@bcepilepsy.com.
- The Online Peer Support Group is a group for adults living with epilepsy. This group is held via an online videochat on the first Monday of every month from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. For more information or to register, please email Jas at jasdeep@bcepilepsy.com.
- The BCES Men’s Circle is a group for adults living with epilepsy who identify as men. This group is held at the BC Epilepsy Society office on the second Thursday of every month from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. For more information or to register, please email info@bcepilepsy.com.
- The BCES Women’s Circle is a group for adults living with epilepsy who identify as women. This group will launch in 2020, so check our website for more updates!
- Epilepsy Friends Forever (EFF) is a friendship group for children and youth living with epilepsy. This group is held at the BC Epilepsy Society office on the last Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM for ages 6-12 or 10:45 AM to 12:15 PM for ages 13-17. - The BC Epilepsy Parents Network (BCEPN) is a support group for parents of children living with epilepsy. This group is held at the BC Epilepsy Society office on the third Thursday of every month from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. For more information or to register, please email Sonia at sonia@bcepilepsy.com.
